New York City has agreed to pay out more than $5.5million to settle lawsuits against a former Brooklyn prosecutor who illegally wiretapped her NYPD ex-cop boyfriend and a prosecutors because she thought they were having an affair.

A preliminary agreement from the city has been made to pay Detective Jarret Lemiux $950,000 and another $1.4million to Brooklyn Assistant District Attorney Stephanie Rosenfeld.

Both were targeted by ex-Assistant District Attorney Tara Lenich.

Another $3.2million will go to 350 plaintiffs who filed a class-action lawsuit against Lenich and the Brooklyn DA's Office, arguing that their privacy was invaded in the woman's scheme.

'This individual clearly abused the authority entrusted to her as a prosecutor. She illegally used her tools and training for personal gain instead of furthering the interests of the public, and cleverly concealed her scheme,' Nicholas Paolucci, a spokesman for the city Law Department, explained to the New York Daily News.

'The District Attorney's Office has since strengthened its procedures to guard against this kind of misconduct and we are settling these cases in the best interests of all parties.'

The 44-year-old thought Lemieux and Rosenfeld were dating and spent 18 months forging court orders so that she could monitor communication between the two.

In April 2017, Lenich pleaded guilty to illegally intercepting oral and electronic communications. She was sentenced to a year in jail.

Lenich was also fired from the Brooklyn DA's office.

At the time of the trial, Lenich wept in court and said she was in 'a completely destructive' place when she wiretapped the two.

DA Rosenfeld shared during the trial that the entire ordeal caused her so much anguish that she had to resign from the office.

Her lawyers asserted that she had no relationship with Lemieux, adding that talks of the love triangle were nothing but 'outrageous allegations and scuttlebutt.'

'She endured months of humiliating looks and behind-the-back comments from supervisors and colleagues at the Kings County DA, defense attorneys in the courthouse, and even judges and court staff,' her 2017 lawsuit read.
