ANOTHER COVID CORPORATE CASUALTY
by Bob Walsh
Hertz car rental has just filed for Chapter 11. I suspect it has something to do with airline travel being down 95%. I guess you have to pay for cars, even if nobody is renting them.

Hertz just put more several identical Z06 Corvettes on the market at steep discounts. These cars are anniversary editions and are selling for $60,000. The average dealer price is $90,000. They are a special edition and will maintain a 195 mph. I rent from Hertz and we make Southwest Airline Points for flights and because when you reserve a vehicle, it will be there. Cheaper car rentals will not guarantee the exact vehicle. Last year we went to Yellowstone and I reserved a Dodge RAM 2500 4 W/D truck at the Denver Airport. Glad I did because before that trip was over we used the 4 W/D a couple of times on some muddy backroads looking at wild horses. I put 2100 miles on it with unlimited mileage. It wasn't cheap but between the truck and hotels we earned enough points for a one way ticket anywhere Southwest flies.

I can't get used to the idea that something that sells for $90,000 doesn't have a basement.
Bob, My wife drives a Caddy that sold for more than I paid for my 4 BR home in 1990. It almost drives itself.
