Chesa
Boudin, the uber-liberal district attorney of the People's Republic of
California, decided this week to prosecute a S. F. cop for on on-duty
homicide, only the second time this has happened since forever. It is,
however, the sixth prosecution by Boudin against cops alleging excessive
force.
The cop, Kenneth
Cha, has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the 2017 shooting.
The dead guy is Sean Moore, who died three years after the shooting.
Moore is Black.
Officer
Cha responded to a noise complaint / restraining order violation. Moore
was (allegedly) making a ruckus by banging on the common wall between
his residence and his neighbor. Moore was schizophrenic. He was also
unarmed. The situation went from whatever it was when the cop arrived
to a shooting in eight minutes. This fact seems to really offend the
D.A.
The D. A. at the
time reviewed the case and determined that the shooting was justified.
Boudin has taken over the job since 2019.
Moore physically assaulted both of the officers, Cha and his partner Colin Patino.
Moore
died in San Quentin, where he was a guest of the people on charges not
related to this incident. His death certificate says the old gunshot
wound was the primary cause of his death.
