That's Why It Surprises Me

Every once in a great while the formerly great state of California comes
up with a good idea. They just decided to spend $5 billion of their
massive budget surplus on a number of natural gas fired (the best of the
available evil nasty horrible fossil fuels) emergency power
generators. These puppies will only be kicked in when the power grid is
running critically low on available power. It seems like such a
reasonable, logical idea that I am surprised that the state is actually
doing it.
