Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey
City statutes require that the liberal shithole of
Minneapolis, Minnesota, maintain a police department of at least 731
officers. The court has stated that Mayor Jacob Frey has a clear legal
duty to do so, and has failed in that duty and has failed to adequately
excuse his failure.
Interim
City Attorney Peter Ginder has asserted that the may and the department
have acted "in good faith" to correct this deficiency, but have been
unable to hire enough "community oriented police officers" to cover the
short-fall.
The ruling by
the state supreme court pushes the lawsuit back to Hennepin County.
The lawsuit was filed by eight local residents in order to obtain a
court order compelling the city to act.
The
city attorney argued that the charter only requires the positions be
funded, not filled. The state supreme court didn't buy that.
