FN makes nice firearms. I own a couple of them. For a
long time they made the P-35 (High Power) Pistol. They shut down
production of this pistol a couple of years back due to the machinery
being worn out. They made a marketing decision. They believed the
market was going to Tupperware pistols. The price of used Hi-Powers,
and good quality clones, went up significantly.
Then
Springfield started cranking out a brand new iteration of the pistol,
without the hated and trigger-dragging magazine safety. They are
selling it for a LOT less money than a really nice used FN version goes
for.
Well, I guess that FN
changed its mind after seeing the Springfield item take off in the
market place. I got an email blast today from FN touting the New-Old Hi
Power. With a 17-round magazine capacity. The old FN model used a 13
rounder (with 20s available) and the new Springfield uses a factory
stock 15 round magazine.
I
doubt I will rush out and buy one. The double-column pistol is just a
bit too big to be comfortable in my hands. Also It isn't on "the list"
in CA and, unless the thing still has the magazine safety in it it
probably never will be. Never the less for those of you who would like a
"real" P-35 rather than an Israeli, or Turkish, or American copy /
clone, your wish may be granted. Down the road. Sometime. Probably.
