Abby Zwerner was shot by a 6-year-old student at Richneck Elementary School in Newport News, Virginia.
Dr.
George Parker III is the Superintendent of the Newport News Public
School District. He will continue to be so, for one more week. After
that he will get his $500,000 dollars (two years pay) and told to not
let the door hit him in the ass on the way out.
By
a vote of 5-1 the school board decided they could do without him. They
were unimpressed with the fact that three different staff members
informed administrators that they thought the first-grader that shot his
teacher was armed that day and NOTHING was done about it. The
vice-principle at the school has already resigned.
The teacher is suing the district. Presumably she is suing the parents too, but the district has a LOT more money.
According
to the latest info the gun in question was "secured" in the parents
house by placing it on a six foot high shelf in a closet. It is further
said that it had a trigger lock on it. So far nobody has said where
the key for the trigger lock was kept or if the lock was in place when
the 1st grader appropriated the gun.
