Marjorie Taylor Greene calls Democrats 'pedophiles,' claims Biden supports 'sexualizing children' and criticizes Republicans for not backing Trump when he was President

Marjorie Taylor Greene has reasserted her allegations that the Democratic Party is 'full of pedophiles' and insisted President Joe Biden has an agenda of 'sexualizing children.'
When 60 Minutes reporter Leslie Stahl questioned the Georgia representative on her 'over the top' claims, Greene, 48, defended and repeated her assertions.
She said that contributing to her claims of the ramp-up of the over-sexualization of children is the push from progressives and Democrats to legalize trans healthcare and surgeries for minors.
'I will always fight to protect kids!' the Georgia Republican tweeted along with a clip from the interview aired Sunday.
The congresswoman, frequently referred to by her initials MTG, is a stalwart Trump supporter accused of pushing QAnon conspiracy theories – including that Democrats are running an underground sex trafficking ring and that a powerful Jewish family used space lasers to start the California wildfires.
Some of her comments regarding school shootings led her to lose her committee positions when Democrats still controlled the House. Still, she earned back seats at the table when Republicans won a majority in the 2022 midterms, and Kevin McCarthy became House Speaker.
Asked during her wide-ranging interview with 60 Minutes about her claim 'Democrats are a party of pedophiles,' MTG replied: 'I would definitely say so. They support grooming children.'
'Democrats support - even Joe Biden, the President, himself, supports children being sexualized and having transgender surgeries,' she continued. 'Sexualizing children is what pedophiles do to children.'
MTG has previously asserted a number of wild claims, including the QAnon conspiracy that 'America is run by pedophiles and Satan-worshippers running a global child sex-trafficking operation and that former President Trump is the only person who can stop them.'
In a January interview, Greene told Fox News that she was 'sucked into some things I had seen on the internet', when explaining why she made some of the claims she had previously.
'But that was dealt with quickly early on,' she added at the time. 'I never campaigned on those things. That was not something I believed in. That's not what I ran for Congress on. So those are so far in the past.'
MTG has also linked the Democrats to the Nazis and pushed the discredited Pizzagate conspiracy that Democrat officials were connected to a human trafficking and child sex ring.
The Georgia lawmaker used the 60 Minutes interview to talk about a number of issues, including her opposition to sending weapons and financial aid to Ukraine in light of the Russian invasion.
'What I have voted against is funding a war in Ukraine,' she said. 'The entire time I have been saying the United States needs to be pushing for peace in Ukraine, not funding a proxy war with Russia.'
The line is shared by China. Russia has also publicly been in support of opening peace talks.
Russia demands concessions unacceptable to Ukraine, including sovereignty over Crimea - a geopolitically important region for both sides given to Ukraine in 1954 when it was a constituent republic of the USSR.
Russia has also demanded Ukraine refuse to join the EU and NATO as part of a peace process.
Taylor Greene separately echoed her previous comments that 'good guys with guns' were needed to stop school shooters.
She responded to the tragic deaths of six schoolchildren in Nashville last Monday to push for greater accessibility of guns in schools.
She wrote: 'Children and school staff should always be protected the same way politicians, money, precious stones, and gold are protected, but even more so, by good guys with guns.'
'Joe Biden's gun-free school zones have endangered children at schools leaving them as innocent targets of sick horrible, disturbed people ever since he worked as a Senator to pass this foolish law,' she added.
The Republican two days ago claimed the 'Democrats want civil war' in response to Trump's indictment.
She said the party wants 'to push us into reacting so they can use their weaponized government to lock us all up.'
MTG recently called for a 'national divorce,' dividing the country into red and blue states.
On Twitter, a number of voices have criticized the interview or the platforming of MTG in itself.
Vanity Fair journalist Molly Jong-Fast wrote: 'Elevating a mini trumper because that worked out so well last time.'
Podcaster Victor Shi wrote: 'Don't get me wrong: I respect Leslie Stahl, But that interview... was truly terrible. Little to no pushback. She let MTG get away with lie after lie.'
In the interview, Stahl says: 'They [the Democratic party] are not pedophiles. Why would you say that?'
When MTG responds, she says: 'Wow. OK.' before moving on to a question about name calling.
