The legislature of the formerly great state of California
employs a lot of people. There are 120 elected legislators and each
has a chief of staff. There is a special committee of the legislature
that does nothing but look into complaints made against elected
legislators and their high ranking staffers by employees. This
committee looks into all sort of things, including complaints of sexual
harassment, retaliation and sexual assault. In the last four years
there have been a total of 391 such complaints made. A total of zero of
these complaints have been substantiated by the committee.
Interestingly
enough the results of these complaints, including the names of those
involved, are exempt from the public records act.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
