I hope school choice and vouchers pass. The old flawed Robin Hood system didn't work. I you live in a poor rural district you get a poor education. If you live in a large urban district you also get a poor education. If you live in an upper middle class district like Clear Creek ISD, Deer Park, Friendswood and La Porte you can get a good education. Level the teacher pay and benefits and thus student opportunities. (USA)

Teacher pay has little to do with the quality of education. If you doubled the pay of teachers it probably wouldn't make a dime's worth of difference. The politicizing of public school curricula and inferior teachers have degraded the quality of education.

There is a downside to school choice and school vouchers. They drain the public schools of students from white, black and Latino middle class families, thereby further debilitating the state of public education.

Public Education has been going down hill not only in Texas but nationwide. October 17, 1979 was when the US Dept of Education was established. It has been a RX for disaster. Just like alcohol and speed limits, States should be solely in charge of their public education. Your opinion is your opinion but teacher pay, benefits and being appreciated keeps good career teachers. My daughter has worked in three separate school districts as a teacher where teachers were not appreciated then as a principal where she valued and promoted hiring good educators and now as an administrator where she oversees several departments. This allows placing resources where they are needed in hopes of eliminating teacher burnout and stimulating the desire to have a positive impact on students.

The US Dept of Education has only incubated kids who are pushed into choosing whether they are male or female. (USA)
