Abraham Sosa, 20, was found with a
loaded, defaced rifle in his backpack when police nabbed him for
trespassing at the Kingsbridge Road station, cops said.
Two "migrants", one of whom was carrying a loaded
machinegun, were arrested last week after resisting arrest, are now back
on the streets.
Abraham
Sosa, 20, lives above a Bronx day care center. He was spotted
trespassing and urinating in the tunnel of a subway station in the
afternoon when the cops approached him. They asked him for ID which he
refused to provide. The cops attempted to take him into custody but he
resisted and Christopher Mayren, 20, jumped in to assist Sosa. During
the ensuing fight a loaded, fully automatic AR pattern rifle fell out of
Sosa's backpack.
Both
men were arrested. Mayren was found to be in possession of one of the
cops cell phones, apparently grabbed in the fight. Sosa was charged
with a bunch of stuff including possession of a machine gun and
possession of a defaced (fiddled serial number) weapon. Mayren was
charged with being a dick in public and criminal possession of stolen
property.
Mayren was released without bail. Sosa was released on a $25,000 bond.
There
is no such thing as legal possession of a machinegun in New York City
by a private citizen. They take it very seriously (unless you are an
undocumented democrat).
