The fire grew from less than a half of a square mile to 16 square miles in just five hours
The Mountain Fire in Ventura County has taken out a
significant but unknown number of houses in the mountain area of the
county. The rough country and very high winds are making it very hard
to fight and even harder to contain. The fire is "spotting" well in
advance of the main fire, as far as two miles in some cases.
The
fire has zero containment as of now (10:00 a.m. Thursday) and has units
from many different agencies fighting it as well as air assets. There
are a lot of very nice, very expensive houses in the many canyons in the
area, often with only one road in and out of the area.

I hope people and pets get out unharmed.
