Michigan animal lover Robert 'Bobby' Cavanaugh was savagely beaten to death after he tried to rescue a dog from an abusive neighbor

Michigan animal lover Robert 'Bobby' Cavanaugh

Robert Cavanaugh, 60, was well known around Madison Heights, Michigan, for being a dog person.  He happened to be bicycling around his neighborhood  on Christmas Eve when he spotted a man allegedly treating a dog abusively.  He attempted to intervene.  He died for his trouble.

The apparent bad actor was a multiple convicted felon.  He beat Cavanaugh to death with a piece of pipe.  The suspect, Robert Beasley, was apprehended at the scene.  He is being held on a charge of ADW pending bail of $100,00s.  The cops expect to file murder charges when the post-mortem report is available.

His family has started a GoFundMe page to raise $4,000 to pay for a funeral.  They are more than half-way there.

Animal cruelty charges should be upgraded to felonies. Stay strapped.
