Michael Shelonchik, 53, of Brooklyn, was sitting in the back of a
for-hire vehicle when two men opened the door and began to punch him in
the head, then snatched his chain from his neck, according to police and sources. Shelonchik suffered some sort of a medical episode, police said. He was taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead.
I am bothered when people who are supposed to be
professional news writers can't seem to do it right. The headline of
the piece I saw reads "Man dies after being robbed in the back of a
cab." What it should say is "Man dies in back of cab after being
robbed." There IS a difference.
The
unfortunate dead person, Michael Shaw, 53, was robbed on Neptune Avenue
in Coney Island. He had apparently been robbed of jewelry just before
parking his butt in the cab. He died in the back seat of the cab more
or less immediately after the robbery. His actual cause of death is not
known. The article also gives a time of the incident, but not a day or
date.
EDITOR'S NOTE: Sorry Bob, but the headline, "Man dies after being robbed in the back of a
cab," was correct.

Yup. The headline was right. The text was wrong.
