I happened to see one of the
brand new postal delivery trucks this week. All electric, courtesy of
the Biden administration. I asked the carrier how he liked them. He
didn't.
They have left hand
drive and conventional doors. So you have to remember to check your
mirrors for traffic, maybe wait for traffic, then bail out and walk
around the truck. They do not have a front passenger seat, but also do
not have a tray or rack there. So the carrier must, after getting out
of the front seat, walk around and open up either the back door or the
side door to get the mail out to stuff into the boxes. It is remarkable
how much extra time this takes in the course of your day if you have to
do it 300 times a day or more.
I
can't help but think that whoever wrote the bid was much more
interested in getting whatever was available thru the pipeline as
quickly as possible rather than actually acquiring vehicles that are
suitable for the use for which they are intended.
