COMEDIAN JACKIE MASON PUTS THE SEQUESTER INTO PROPER PERSPECTIVE

The 2013 sequester includes:

__$42.7 billion in defense cuts (a 7.9 percent cut).

__$28.7 billion in domestic discretionary cuts (a 5.3 percent cut).

__$9.9 billion in Medicare cuts (a 2 percent cut).

__$4 billion in other mandatory cuts (a 5.8 percent cut to non-defense programs, and a 7.8 percent cut to mandatory defense programs).

That totals $85.4 billion in budget cuts.

Comedian Jackie Mason has been poking fun at President Obama’s scare tactics in predicting the loss of jobs among teachers, law enforcement officers, border protection officers, airport security officers, air traffic controllers, etc. because of the sequester.

Mason put the budget cuts into proper perspective by comparing a family budget to the government’s budget:

__“Let me ask you a question – is there any family that has a budget of $300, if you were going to take away 8 cents, would the whole family fall apart? Will they have nothing to eat for the next 30 years?”
