CAPITAL PUNISHMENT: PROUD TO BE A TEXAN

As a strong supporter and advocate of the death penalty, I am proud to be a Texan. On Thursday my state executed Tommy Lynn Sells for the stabbing death of a 13-year-old girl in 1999. Sells has been tied to 22 murders nationwide and bragged about killing up to 70 people.

Sells was the 15th murderer executed in the U.S. and the 5th in Texas so far this year. Texas, which carries out more executions than any other state, has executed 513 murderers since 1976 when the Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty.

I am convinced that the death penalty prevents many people from committing murder, thereby saving countless lives every year. Claims to the contrary by death penalty abolitionists are based on studies conducted by biased researchers. Because the ultimate punishment does save many lives, I am very proud to live in a state that has been condemned worldwide by the opponents of capital punishment.

School Teacher ... "What does your daddy do for a job?"

School Child ... "My daddy kills people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong!"

Huh?
