Nick Sorter is a self-employed
conservative leaning journalist in Portland, OR. On October 2 he was
present at an anti-ICE demonstration being run by anti-FA. At that
"demonstration" (riot) he stomped out a fire burning on an American flag
laying on the street, and then defended himself from an attack by
anti-FA thugs. The cops watched. When he disengaged and walked towards
the cops HE was arrested. His assailants were not.
They
drove him around for about an hour, stopped and held conferences with
assorted people before they took him to the slammer. Apparently they
were having trouble figuring out something to actually charge him with.
I guess getting beaten up by anti-FA isn't a criminal offense, even in
Portland. They eventually charged him with second degree disorderly
conduct. I guess that is the Portland equivalent of thinking in a no
thinking allowed zone.
On
October 3 Pam Bondi announced that the federal DOJ is initiating an
immediate, full-scale civil rights investigation against the Portland
P.D.
I have a sneaking
hunch the Portland PD in general and the cops who arrested Sorter and
those who they consulted with are going to be very sorry. Very probably
with good reason. They are going to have the FBI up their ass for at
least weeks and maybe months. Deservedly so.
