A woman was hospitalized after a camel kicked her in the face during a Christmas celebration at a Texas megachurch.

Shocking video captured by Grizzy’s Hood News showed the incident at Champion Forest Baptist Church's annual Christmas Spectacular.

The Houston megachurch presented the 90-minute production from December 9 to December 14.

The church website describes the production as a 'family-friendly show celebrating the birth of Jesus and the joy of the holiday season.

'This cherished tradition combines Broadway-scale songs, stunning dance performances, dazzling lights, and special effects that will captivate all ages.'

In the video, a camel was being led down the aisle by a man dressed in custom when it kicked the unnamed woman in the head with its left hind leg.

As the procession continued, audience members jumped up to help the woman before first responders were called.

'Champion Forest regrets that this happened,' a church spokesperson wrote in a statement to the Daily Mail.

'During our recent Christmas Spectacular, an unexpected incident occurred when a camel used in the production struck a guest in the audience,' the spokesperson added.

'Our team responded immediately, and emergency services were engaged. We then discontinued walking animals within the audience seating areas for the remainder of the shows. We have remained in contact with the family.'

The woman was treated for her injuries and then released from the hospital, reported KPRC.

Dromedary camels, those with one hump like the camel in the video, can grow over 11 feet tall, weigh up to 1,320 pounds, according to the San Diego Zoo.

Social media users were torn over the incident, with some people criticizing the church for using live animals.

'Seems like bringing huge animals into a crowded auditorium might be part of the problem. Most live nativities are outdoors,' one person wrote on Facebook.

'Maybe I'm the jerk, but I feel sorry for no one except the camel.. I hope it wasn't punished in any way or treated badly for doing something that comes natural as an animal,' wrote another.

'Just doing way too much! The camels did not need to be there,' a third person added.

Others defended the church, insisting they put on a beautiful production, and this was a freak accident.

'Oh my goodness!!! I’ve seen a few of their performances and they are amazing. Too bad someone got hurt,' one person wrote.

'It was a fantastic pageant. This was such a random thing to happen after so many years of this production,' a second person added.

'This is a beautiful and spectacular production that mixes the story of the birth of Jesus with the more childlike view of Christmas with Santa and elves. I am saddened for the woman who got hurt, and I pray she is okay,' the third person wrote.

I am told that camels are actually rather ill-tempered beasts.

Being a Christian, I know how we like a live Manger Scene. Most of the time the scene is outside. However, a couple of Goats and a Donkey would have sufficed. That was dumb. Getting a Camel Toe to the face would hurt. Camels can be ornery especially in a crowd. I hope the lady is OK. I also hope the Camel isn't punished for doing what a Camel does. I'm not real keen on using animals for entertainment.
