This turned out to be an expensive leak. As for the baggie of crack, that reminds me of the time I was in on a San Bernardino Sheriff Department’s drug bust in Riverside County where the dealer had a bag of meth tied to his weenie.
WRONG PLACE AND TIME TO TAKE A WIZ

Darrel Curry was minding his own business, taking a leak in the side yard of somebody elses house when an Oakland cop shot him. It’s costing the city $40,000.
There is, of course, more to the story than that. Curry matched the description of a wanted parolee who was allegedly armed. Officer Valle of the Oakland PD approached him and saw him making a motion consistent with reaching for a gun in his waistband, which is where the parolee was believed to be carrying his gat. Somebody yelled, “He’s got a gun.” So the cop shot him.
The cop said that he saw Curry pull something shiny out of his clothing and throw it in the air. They didn’t find a gun, but did find a baggie with 72 individually packaged rocks of cocaine. Curry denies the drugs were his. He denies throwing anything. And, of course, like any “innocent victim” Curry sued for federal civil rights violations.
The city attorney is recommending the city pay the $40K.
