The City of Galveston has released a list of 55 people who have applied to be the island's next Chief Of Police. Current Chief Charles Wiley is retiring next month.
Here is a breakdown of those who have applied:
9 are current members of the Galveston Police Department.
13 are currently police chiefs in other locations.
14 are from outside of Texas.
1 is a female (Vicki King, Houston PD Assistant Police Chief).
3 have been convicted of felonies.
1 is currently in prison.
2 have never served in law enforcement before.
2 are over 70 years of age.
