WAYNESBORO, Virginia -- Police will continue to investigate the death of a Waynesboro man on Friday.
William Tucker, 52, of Waynesboro was later identified after ingesting what police believe was a bag filled with cocaine.
Virginia State Police reported that just after 9 a.m. Friday the Skyline Drug Task Force and the city of Waynesboro’s SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of North Augusta Avenue.
Upon entry, police found a man forcing a bag filled with a white, powdery substance into his mouth. The bag became lodged in the man’s throat, but he refused assistance from police.
A Waynesboro officer began CPR after Tucker lost consciousness, according to a press release, and the officer was able to regain a pulse until an ambulance arrived. However, despite numerous attempts and the EMS response, Tucker was declared dead upon arrival at Augusta Health.
Police say in the preliminary phase of the investigation that the powdery substance appears to be cocaine. The amount ingested by Tucker is unknown at this time.
A woman and two children were safely removed from the home.
The search warrant, police say, was related to an ongoing illegal drug investigation conducted by the Skyline Drug Task Force, which is composed of investigators from the Waynesboro Police Department, Staunton Police Department, Augusta County Sheriff's Department, Nelson County Sheriff's Department and Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation's Appomattox Field Office.

I wonder how many lives are ultimately saved by the death of a single drug dealer.
Sounds like a self-correcting problem to me.
