Dunsmuir is a nice smallish California railroad town between Redding and Mount Shasta. My late wife and her mom lived there for some time and there are still some shirt-tail relatives there. The town is built in a canyon so is mostly up-and-down, but it is nice. A lot of retired railroaders live there and there is a decent hunting and fishing infrastructure there.
The Delta Fire is maybe-possibly closing on Dunsmuir. That fire has zero containment and is running over 40,000 acres as I write this on Sunday morning. I-5 is still closed south of Dunsmuir in both directions, forcing a 9 hour detour for a 45 mile trip were it still on I-5. Nasty. I wonder how many people ran out of gas on the detour.
Dunsmuir is under an evacuation warning. They are not being told to leave. Yet. That could change.
