The legislative proposal in the formerly great state of California that would essentially force police to let the bad guys shoot first is not going anywhere... this year. The proposal would have required that police could use deadly force only when it was ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, rather than REASONABLE as is the current criteria.
The legislature finally got their collective head out of their collective asses when many of normal liberal supporters, i.e. big city Chiefs of Police, started telling them it was a really bad idea.
On the other side of the scale the legislature has sent to Governor Moonbeam a proposal that would bump the adult prosecution age back up to 16. Many years ago the law was changed to allow adult prosecution of 14 and 15 year olds after a string of vicious, violent felonies committed by young criminals, usually gang affiliated. Under the old law they could only be prosecuted as juveniles not matter WHAT sort of crime they committed, and would be released not later than age 25, with a clean record.
