Sylvester Turner’s daughter Ashley has just become the Executive Director of Community Relations at Lone Star College
Lone Star College is a large community college with several campuses in the Houston area. The college wants to open a North Houston campus in the Aldine area and it would help if Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner gave it his stamp of approval.
The college has just created the new position of Executive Director of Community Relations. Guess who got the job. Surprise, surprise, it was not other than Ashley Turner, the mayor’s daughter.
The job calls for the new director to help manage “external relationships” for the proposed new campus. In other words, Ashley’s job will be to suck up to daddy and get him to voice his approval for the new campus. That shouldn’t be too hard.
The North Houston campus is scheduled to open in the fall of 2019 pending approval from state and regional government agencies. With Ashley’s hiring, it sure looks like they’ve got the Houston city council’s approval locked in.
In her new role, Ashley will also have to deal with the media in the college’s crisis situations. Never mind that she does not have the qualifications for the new job.
I don’t think her prior job of running a wellness center meets the qualification for an Executive Director of Community Relations. But that’s OK, after all, Ashley is the mayor’s daughter and to start off with, she’ll be earning $84,000 a year of the taxpayers’ money.

I like Lone Star College. It uses retired TABC Agents from Chief on down almost exclusively for security on each of it's campuses. Smart people.
