WARM AND FUZZY WINS THE DAY, AT LEAST FOR NOW

by Bob Walsh

The Connecticut Supreme Court ruled 4-3 that the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting seven years ago CAN sue Remington, the manufacturer of the firearm used in the shooting. This ruling flies in the face of federal law dating back to 2005 protecting firearms makers from liability if their weapons are used unlawfully. The Connecticut court is trying a weasel-around by saying the lawsuit concerns the MARKETING of the gun, not the manufacture and distribution.

Remington will certainly appeal and will almost certainly win such an appeal.
