IS THIS OVERKILL ?

by Bob Walsh

Seven thousand people are being held on a cruise ship in Italy because two of the passengers MAY BE showing signs of Corona Virus infection. The ship, the Costa Smeralda, is being held at Civitavecchia, northwest of Rome.

There are also reports that Russia is moving to close off its border with China to stop casual, unauthorized border crossings.

These may be over-reactions. Then again, they may not be. If you under-react, and this bug turns out to be much nastier than thought, it is too late to go back and fix it. That being said, I suspect this is going to turn out like the Swine Flu panic years back. Big noise. Small outcome. My guess, for what that may be worth to you.

The US numbers for the flu posted yesterday by CDC:

More than 8,000 people in the U.S. have died from the flu this season, which peaks between December and February, according to CDC estimates. During the 2018-2019 season, the CDC estimates 16.5 million people went to a health care provider for the flu and more than 34,000 people died in the U.S.

My advice. Wash your hands frequently.
