LA County Public Health announced yesterday that it is completely possible they will NEED to continue the stay-in-place no-business-opening lockdown for another freaking 90 days. This is largely (though not completely) because of the runaway homeless issue and the major public health problems that come with that.
In the meantime the formerly great state of California is looking at a $54B budget shortfall next year due to tax losses due to business contraction and the possibility of layoffs for state workers. State civil service workers, if they are PFT (permanent full-time) get paid if they work or not. But not if they are formally furloughed.

I've seen a couple of movies about the apocalypse in L.A. Could this really be it? Time to study the Book of Revelation.
