Santa Clara County, CA has about 500 total employees in its public health department. They want to hire about 1,000 people to do contact tracing for Covid-19 cases. You have to be able to speak clearly and coherently, preferably in English, and have some sort of vague connections to reasonable thought processes at a minimum. The ability to speak Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese or Klingon is a definite plus.
The state wants to hire 20,000 contact tracers of their own so if you don't want to connect to Silicon Valley there is that option. The details of the job, including compensation, have yet to be worked out. If you like to sit on your ass all day and talk on the phone, this could be the job for you.
