The
RECALL THE ARROGANT COMMIE BASTARD campaign in California needs not
quite 1.5 million valid signatures to get on the ballot. They have now
turned in slightly over 2 million, with six days yet to go. They have
been running about 84% valid signatures so they should be well over the
top unless there are massive shenanigans within the county registrar's
offices. I am not ruling that out, but the recall campaign has been
paying an independent third-party auditor to go over the signatures so
it may be difficult to convince a court everything is kosher if the
counties come up with something that is massively different.
Newsom
is now calling out his road dogs to help. They are whining about the
cost of the special election. Also, under CA law, it is now legal to
approach the petition signers and attempt to coerce them into
withdrawing their signature if they do it within 30 days of the date of
the signature. That is allegedly going on, but all I am hearing is
noise on that subject. Nobody has so far quoted chapter and verse that I
have heard of.
There is
now IMHO a near certainty that the election will occur. Whether or not
Newsom will be removed is a real question, but special one-issue
elections tend to bring out people who feel very strongly about the
issue. The WE HATE NEWSOM people feel very strongly about their
position. The WE LOVE THE COMMIE BASTARD people not so much.
An
important secondary benefit is that the recall campaign may give some
push to the recalls getting started against the L A and S F district
attorneys.
GO RECALL. THROW THE BASTARDS OUT.
