The United Nations Human Rights Council on Tuesday passed a resolution critical of Israel with the support of major European powers, including Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Italy.
The motion was adopted with a 22 to 6 vote, along with 8 abstentions.
The resolution featured 19 paragraphs criticizing Israeli policies regarding Palestinians living in the West Bank, east Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
Only one paragraph mentioned rockets being fired at Israel from terrorist organizations located in the coastal enclave.
UN Watch, a pro-Israel NGO, slammed the UNHRC resolution, accusing the international body of anti-Israel bias.
"The fact that this resolution was literally written by the Palestinians, with co-sponsors that include Pakistan on behalf of the Islamic states as well as Venezuela's Maduro regime, is clear from the text's pervasive condemnation of Israeli actions, with no mention whatsoever of Hamas, Islamic Jihad or the Palestinian Authority," said Hillel Neuer, the executive director of UN Watch. The countries of Austria, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Malawi and Togo all voted against the resolution, while Bahrain, one of Israel's newest Middle East allies, was not present for the UNHRC session.
