Iranian general threatens Israel with 'crushing response'

The chief of staff of Iran's armed forces Maj. Gen. Mohammed Bagheri threatened to retaliate against Israel for the death of a senior Quds Force official, Sunday, saying, "It's unclear what our response will be, but the Zionist regime cannot allow itself to rest peacefully."

Speaking at a memorial ceremony for Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards Quds Force deputy commander Brig. Gen. Muhammad Hussein-Zada Hejazi, Bagri warned. "The actions we are carrying out in recent days and will carry out soon will bring the Zionist to an understanding of the reality. The future of the resistance is bright."

While Hejazi was initially believed to have died of a heart attack, Iranian officials now suspect he was poisoned by Israel and the United States with radioactive materials and have opened an investigation into his death.

He said, "The Zionists think they can attack Syria's soil and perform all kinds of tricks in the sea, and there won't be any response. The resistance front will provide a crushing response to the Zionists."

In response to a question from the press, Bahri said, "I cannot tell you now what our response will look like or when it will come, but I can tell you the Zionists cannot afford to rest easy."

Meanwhile, Iran's Defense Minister Amir Hatami issued his own threat toward Israel.

"The Zionist regime and the enemies of the Islamic revolution must know that Revolutionary Guard fighters will obey the leadership's commands and carry on the path of the martyrs and will not give up the struggle until the final victory [is won]."
