This
one is a bit unusual. Valentino Rodriguez, Jr. used to work for the
California Department of Corrections (and rehabilitation) at Folsom
Prison. He left the department after complaining about hazing by staff
members. He died from what is stated to be an accidental overdose of
fentanyl at his home on October 21. He was 30 years old at the time.
He had worked with the Investigative Services Unit along with Daniel
Garland, 42, who is currently on suspension pending investigation,
presumably related to Rodriguez' death.
Shortly
after Rodriguez's death his family gave a thumb drive to the Office of
Internal Affairs, believed to be documented a significant history of
harassment and hazing. His complaints go back at least a year, some of
which became public record at that time.
The
department spouted it's usual BS about "CDCR takes any incident or
allegation of misconduct or workplace harassment very seriously."
