AOC'S TEARS AND 'PRESENT' VOTE WERE ALL PART OF A CALCULATED EFFORT TO BOOST HER EXPECTED RUN FOR THE SENATE

AOC’s crying shame

Those tears Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shed this week after changing her vote on funding Israel’s Iron Dome defense system from “no” to “present”? Make no mistake about it: Those were tears of joy, the sort of surge of well-being you feel when you realize you can literally deny a whole swath of your constituents their most basic human dignity and they’d still support you no matter what.

With AOC and her posse of Jew-haters in the Squad once again embarrassing the grown-ups pretending that they still in control of the party, top Democrats rushed last week to do some major damage control, swearing up and down that they support Israel and introducing an independent bill to secure the previously nixed funding.

It was as much a show as AOC’s tears. For all the rhetoric, the far-left increasingly understands that a very large number of non-Orthodox Jews now care more about the Democratic Party being in power than they do about almost anything else, including truth, justice or even their own well-being.

Think that’s an extreme statement? Behold: Also last week, Rep. Andy Levin (D-Mich.) introduced legislation that would jump-start American support for Mahmoud Abbas’ murderous dictatorship and make US aid to Israel contingent on Jerusalem playing nice with the Palestinian Authority.

In case you need a reminder, that would be the same Palestinian Authority that currently champions a robust Pay for Slay program, rewarding anyone who murders Jews with lavish state-funded financial support. The bill was co-sponsored by party bigwigs like Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-Texas) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.). And it was introduced at a press conference featuring representatives of progressive Jewish organizations, cheering on a proposal that basically ignores the last 28 years of Palestinian intransigence, incitement and terrorism.

So what if Mahmoud Abbas is now on year 16 of his four-year term? So what if he and his henchmen torture dissenters? None of that matters, because the Democrat gospel these days is clear and simple: Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, is inherently, irreparably and unequivocally bad.

AOC understands all that. She knows that she’ll get money from Jewish Democratic outfits, and she also knows that the committed media outlets her party essentially controls will continue to spin the story as needed.

This is why The New York Times, at this point a caricature of a newspaper, reported this week that the congresswoman changed her vote after pressure from “powerful pro-Israel voices” which included “influential lobbyists and rabbis.” If only those all-powerful elders of Zion had some protocols for the Paper of Record to publish.

The paper stealthily edited out that last line later, but it gave anyone who still had any doubts a clear window into how the left thinks: The Iron Dome vote wasn’t about trying to save lives from missile attacks launched by a vile militant group targeting innocent civilians, but about those nefarious Jews once again exercising their shady power and pulling the levers of American power to protect their precious Israel.

If AOC goes on to seek a Senate seat — and why wouldn’t she? — this week’s tearful performance should be seen as her campaign’s opening bid, the moment she understood that if you had a D next to your name, there was literally nothing you couldn’t do and say and not get a majority of American Jews to cheer for you. That’s good news for AOC and very bad news for the Jews.
