Robert
S. Kaplan and Eric S. Rosengren will both be leaving their posts on the
Federal Reserve very shortly, long before their terms expire.
Eric Roengren, president of the Boston Federal Reserve Bank, will retire later this week, citing health reasons.
Robert
Kaplan, president of the Dallas Federal Reserve, announced that he is
leaving because his private trading activity is causing problems for his
work at the Fed.
If this
were you or me, that would be called Insider Trading and we would be
having long and unpleasant conversations with the SEC and / or FBI right
about now.
The head of the
Federal Reserve System (who is up for reappointment early next year,
maybe) has announced a widespread review of ethics standards. I can't
imagine why.
