High
Desert State Prison is the newer of two good-size prisons located at
Susanville, CA.  There are one or two interesting pieces of drama going
on up there that may, or may not, be connected.
There
was a shooting inside the city of Susanville on Sunday involving two
non-peace officer employees of the prison.  The shootee survived the
incident.  It is unclear whether or not the shooter was arrested.
On
Monday a person or persons unknown made a bomb threat to the prison.  I
am unsure why.  It is not like they can just evacuate the prison.  Also
it would not be easy (though not impossible) to smuggle a decent size
bomb into the place.
It
is unclear whether or not the two incidents are related.  No ID info is
available at the moment on the two employees involved in the shooting.
