Richard Louis Brown
A
union official of SEIU Local 1000 has asked a judge for a TRO to order
the removal of the local's president, Richard Louis Brown and a couple
of dozen of his supporters from the union headquarters building. They
managed to get into the building on Saturday and chained the doors
closed from the inside after the three vice-presidents had the locks
changed on the building in order to keep Brown and his supporters out.
Bill
Hall, the chairman of the 65-member board, asserted in his request for
the TRO to the Sacramento County Superior Court, that continued
occupation of the building poses "and immediate and serious threat to
the union and it's ability to serve the approximately 100,000 workers
that it represents." Hall was appointed to his position last Saturday
in a vote that the union president asserts is invalid.
Hall
is further asking the court to enjoin Brown and his people from
removing documents from the building and to order the return of
documents already removed.
There
is also concern that Brown and his group may inappropriately access
confidential documents in the HR department or in the office of their
chief legal counsel.
On
Monday a USPS truck showed up with the mail and there was a significant
dispute as to which group was entitled to receive the mail. The letter
carrier left without delivering the mail to either group.
