'What happened to Mickey Rourke's face?' Actor's Newsmax interview on Ukraine sparks rumors
One user tweeted, 'Why does Mickey Rourke look like he cut off 1996 Val Kilmer's face and is wearing it?'
American actor Mickey Rourke praised the Ukrainian fighting spirit amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis in an interview with Newsmax on Friday, March 18. Although, Rourke talked about the importance of faith in times of war, many on the internet were only focused on how he looked almost unrecognizable in the interview.
Speaking about Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Rourke said, "I don't really believe this thing can be shut off diplomatically. Putin wants what he wants. Ukraine is fighting harder than anyone expected them to fight. And you know I see everything - about what's going on there, all the devastation, places getting bombed that shouldn't be bombed." He further added, "I think everybody really thought, it would be over in 2-5 days. But whatever, what happened. But now Ukrainians are putting up such a hard fight, they just not going to give up."
The actor continued, "I don't care if there is two Ukrainians left, they are going to fight till they are dead. I wish they can battle a lot." Rourke concluded the interview by saying, "The only thing that is going to stop this madness when it's the right time it will be stopped from above, not from down here."
Shortly after the interview, the clip got widely circulated on Twitter; but rather than talk about the issues raised by the actor, curious netizens wanted to know what had happened to the actor's face.
One user wrote, "WTF happened to Mickey Rourke's face? He's unrecognizable." A second tweeted, "OMFG…is that Mickey Rourke? Apparently he had a little too much faith in plastic surgery." A third added, "Why does Mickey Rourke look like he cut off 1996 Val Kilmer ‘s face and is wearing it?" A fourth wrote, "Omg that video of Mickey Rourke. I have no desire to listen to it; Mickey ain't been right in the head for awhile. But a moment of silence please, for this face." A fifth added, "Holy shit, Mickey Rourke looks like he’s wearing a Michael Myers mask." A sixth wrote, "Mickey Rourke looks like he was bitten by a radioactive Steve Guttenberg."
Meanwhile, a fan supported Rourke by writing, "All of you who are on the thread about Mickey Rourke commenting on his looks. It is low to comment on people's looks and body shame people. You can't say your stand for human rights while dehumanizing another person. Disagree with what he said, just mocking him makes you a bully." Another wrote, "Mickey Rourke’s face got messed up from boxing and he went to a bad plastic surgeon to fix it. It’s cruel to shame him for something he has no control of."
As a pro, Rourke was trained by Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach and fought eight times between May 1991 and September 1994. He went undefeated, 6-0-2 with 4 knockouts
Rourke was once known as one of the most handsome stars in the film industry - before his boxing injuries and plastic surgery. In an interview with DailyMail back in 2009, Rourke said, "Most of it [plastic surgery] was to mend the mess of my face after the boxing. I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together." The actor had cartilage taken from his ear to rebuild his nose, an operation he called "one of the most painful." Rourke said, "I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone."

I don't give a Hoot in Hell what some washed up actor has to say about anything. I used to enjoy his movies but that was long ago.
