Regular readers will remember I wrote a few days ago about an action by the PA State Supreme Court. They ordered that, in accordance with state law, mail-in ballots MUST be dated and MUST be dated correctly.
Today the John Fetterman campaign filed suit in federal court alleging that this requirement violates the 1964 voting rights act. It may get interesting because under the constitution voting laws are set by the individual states and not by the federal government, though the voting rights act of 1964 is important and significant as it addresses primarily race discrimination (if I remember correctly) but of course could be interpreted in more than one direction assuming the court is inclined to do so.
My GUESS, for what that might mean to you, is that the legal requirement in the state law will be found to be valid at it does not discriminate against any group other than those too stupid to read the directions or so clueless that they don't know what the date is.
One thing for sure, it could be REAL important down the road. Expect a tooth and nail fight on this.
