Phoebe Waller-Bridge is rumored to play Harrison Ford’s iconic character Indiana Jones’ goddaughter in 'Indiana Jones 5'
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 37, might be in line to replace Harrison Ford,
80, in the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise. The ‘Fleabag’ star will be
introduced as Helena, Ford’s iconic character Indiana Jone’s
goddaughter, in the upcoming fifth film which will release on June 30,
2023.
According to DailyMail,
sources have revealed that Bridge "may take over the lead role from
Ford after film-makers shot a series of possible endings. In one
version, Ford's character dies after passing on his famous bullwhip and
weathered fedora to Helena." Ford brought the iconic archeologist
to life in four films, starting with 1981 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,'
'The Temple of Doom' in 1984, 'The Last Crusade' in 1989 and 'The
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' in 2008.

However, the speculation have left people with have mixed views. One
wrote, NO ONE REPLACES Harrison Ford as INDIANA JONES!!! NO ONE!!!"
Another wrote, "Don't bother, it will be a flop. All these
remakes/sequels with women taking on the roles have been awful. One more
said, "One of the endings, which was said to be the least popular one,
had Phoebe-Waller Bridge replacing Harrison Ford at the end of the
movie. BWAHHAHAHAH F**K."
Phoebe Waller-Bridge won multiple Emmy Awards in 2020 for the second season of Fleabag—including best actress in a comedy series.
On the other hand, one of many said, "That will be every bit as
successful as the all-female "Ghostbusters." While an individual pointed
out, "If he was a woman, they would’ve ousted him a long time ago, but
because he’s a man, he got to do until he’s like 109! She will do
awesome!!"
But director James Mangold took to social media to shut down the rumors
surrounding 'Indiana Jones 5' when a user named Paolo said,
"BasementDweller46 said that KK personally replaces Indiana Jones with a
woman in the movie and test screening audiences HATE IT." To which
Mangold responded, "Well, Paulo, it's up to you who you believe — an
anonymous troll named "basement dweller" & "doomcock" or the actual
director of the film. No one will ever replace Indiana Jones. Not in any
script. Not in any cut. Never discussed."
