One Jew, and the World’s Furor

How the actions of Itamar Ben-Gvir might indicate where we are in the prophetic “end times” schedule.

Whatever his motivation, Itamar Ben-Gvir is shining a spotlight on the world's opposition to God's will and plan of redemption.

 

Love him or hate him, agree with him or oppose him, Itamar Ben-Gvir has become a barometer for international attitudes regarding the prophetic restoration of Israel.

The Bible is fairly clear that the physical rebirth of Israel that we’ve already witnessed was just an initial step, to be followed by a spiritual awakening leading to a particular set of national actions that in turn lead to the nations of the world coming against the Jewish state.

Itamar Ben-Gvir and his “antics” might give an indication as to where we are on that timeline.

Isn’t it funny how one Jew can cause so much international consternation, just for being a Jew where Jews are told they cannot be?

Is there any other nationality or ethnicity capable of sparking such global commotion just by being who they are in a particular place at a particular time? It seems to be yet another uniquely Jewish trait.

A large group of Americans showing up at the main mosque in Tehran might make headlines, but a single American, Christian or otherwise, certainly wouldn’t. A group of Russian patriots parading through Kyiv at the moment would grab attention. But a single Russian? Not so much.

Only a Jew can by his or her solitary presence in a place deemed off-limits to them create such turmoil as to necessitate a meeting of the UN Security Council.

We witnessed the same thing with Ariel Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount in September 2000, which the world blames for the outbreak of the second Palestinian intifada. A single Jew by merely being in the “wrong place” at the “wrong time” had ignited the region and triggered handwringing in halls of power around the world.

For those with eyes to see and ears to hear, this is yet further evidence – not of Israel’s uniquely heinous behavior (as the media likes to paint it), but rather of Israel’s unique, divinely-appointed role in our world.

Think about it. Why should anyone really care what this one Jewish guy does? Religious sensitivities are offended to varying degrees in many places around the world every day, often with violent reactions by one group or another, and no one bats an eye. In fact, 99 percent of folks aren’t even aware it happened, nor would they care.

But a Jew on the Temple Mount? That is somehow special, somehow worthy of the world’s greatest powers meeting in emergency session.

That’s because these great world powers, whether or not they admit or even realize it, do attribute special status to the things God has called special – namely, the nation of Israel and His holy mountain in Jerusalem.

In this way, the world’s exaggerated negative attention to Israel and the actions of a single Israeli Jew is an unwitting acknowledgement of God’s existence and the veracity of the Bible. You could go so far as to say it’s an acknowledgement of God’s sovereignty, in that the UN is trying to tell the Jews that they may not do what the Lord God of Israel told them to do, which in this case is to ascend the Temple Mount in worship of Him.

We are witnessing the nations of the world align themselves against the Almighty, though they fail to see it as such. And it’s only possible for them to do so in this way because of the rebirth of Israel as a nation, which has in turn enabled Jews like Itamar Ben-Gvir to again (after 2,000 years of exile) express their commitment to God and His Word in a sovereign and independent manner.
