WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE

By Bob Walsh

The flooding in Sacramento County is getting more "interesting."  The water from the runoff and two levee breaks has moved west beyond Hwy 99 and MIGHT impact Hwy 5 soon.  The Sacramento County Jail and Rio Cosumnes has been evacuated.  The water rescue teams have been busy pulling stupid people out of half-drowned cars when they tried to drive thru running water and/or flooded roads.  Lots of stranded livestock.

There is another solid week of moderate rain forecast beginning this evening.  It could get very unpleasant for a lot of rural dwellers and more than a few urbanites with low lying homes near rivers, creeks and sloughs.

I have no real worry about flooding where I am, but power failures can be an issue in the area, caused by falling trees and idiots hitting power poles.  In my immediate area the utilities are underground, but the power still has to get here from the substations.

I hope the outdoor firing range does not flood.  I have a shoot scheduled on the 14th.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Hundreds, if not thousands, of families have had their homes destroyed by the flood, and you're worried about a fucking firing range.

Yes, I am shallow, self-centered and banal. And I probably wouldn't shoot anyway on the 14th because it is likely to be too cold for my moderately arthritic hand. But I have to keep up appearances or I will lose my membership in the IDGAS society. We have a great dental plan.

Yet, Californians continue to snivel about their drought caused by "climate change." Here's a thought. Your population has more than tripled since the early 1900's. Your water storage capacity hasn't increased much at all. It's not rocket science.

The votes are in LA. Some of them are actual US citizens. The Angelenos WANT nice green lawns and golf courses. The city exists in what is technically a desert. That is why the current and previous governor (and others) have worked so hard to come up with a way to divert half of the California Delta to SoCal. They haven't pulled it off yet, but it is not for lack of trying.
