Former President Donald Trump spoke exclusively with the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Sunday and also commented on he ongoing war in Gaza, sounding a pessimistic note.  Speaking with the paper's Jessica Hill he took note of the ongoing situation, as both Hamas and Israel continue fighting some eight months after the Oct. 7 atrocities.

Asked about the 120 captives still held by the terrorist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip, he said, "I'm afraid, really, that those hostages will never be seen again," he said.

He said that he would be a better president than Joe Biden if he were to return to the Oval Office after the November elections and that he was more pro-Israel while he was in office between 2017 and 2021. He noted that Israel, which successfully rescued four hostages in a daring raid on Saturday, should bring back the remaining ones, expressing a pessimistic note on the situation.

"I've been very pro-Israel. We've been very strong on Israel. They're going to have to finish up the situation that they are in right now. They have to get the hostages back. I'm afraid that many of those hostages will never be seen again. They'll never be back. They may be gone, they may be dead. It's a very sad thing. October 7 was something that would have never happened if I was president. Zero chance."

Trump made similar comments on the need to wrap up the 8-month conflict when he spoke with Israel Hayom several months ago.
