As of right now there will be virtually no sales of
petroleum powered vehicles in the formerly great state of California
starting in 2035. Apparently the state can do this based on some sort
of a waiver from the EPA which is not a totally done deal. It also
seems that, once the waives are granted it is very time consuming and
difficult to reverse them.
The
"unfortunate and unexpected" occurrence Tuesday last is now causing a
panic in CA and possibly within the Biden administration. The people
involved want DESPERATELY to get these waivers nailed down and chiseled
in stone before Trump takes over and throws them into the crapper.
It is far from certain that this goal can be reached. Damn, wouldn't that be terrible? (Typed with massive insincerity.)
