Back on August 21 William Bryan and his wife Beverly
Bryan of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, were at their vacation property in
Okaloosa County, Florida when William experienced a medical emergency.
They
went to the Acension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast hospital in Florida.
William was told he had a bum spleen and recommended it be jerked via an
emergency laparoscopic splenectomy. He did. Trouble is, the Dr.
removed his liver instead of his spleen, and then (allegedly) tried to
cover up the error. William died as a direct result of the error.
His
widow, who is suing, asserts that due to at least one prior very
similar incident and other significant surgical errors ASHEC medical
center should have known the doctor, Thomas Shaknovsky, was
incompetent.
The current status of Shaknovsky's medical practice and license was not mentioned in the article.
