FORMER POLICE CHIEF CHARGED WITH KIDNAPPING

by Bob Walsh

Burrell "Chip" Davis used to be the Chief of Police in La Vergne, Tennessee.  I recall writing about his troubles a year or two back.  About ten days ago he landed in some more trouble.

It is alleged that, on January 29, he confronted his estranged wife at her home while her daughters were present.  He made some unpleasant accusations against her.  He snagged all their cell phones and found a gun in the house and then threatened to shoot himself.

Davis ended up facing four counts of aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and several assorted misdemeanor domestic assault charges.  He is being held ending a $145,000 bond.

In December he was arrested for aggravated stalking and violating a protection order.  He bailed out on that charge.

In December the Tennessee POST Commission revoked his certification.

Dude seems to be seriously spiraling out of control.  These things often end VERY badly.
