The formerly great state of California is pretty much a one-party state. The Socialist-Democrap party runs the show. All of the constitutional officers in the state are Democraps and the Socialist-Democrap party holds a supermajority (albeit a thin one) in both houses of the legislature.
Last year the Democraps ran thru a major tax increase. California roads suck ass. That is because the Democraps have been for years siphoning money out of the road fund. Some years back the PEOPLE passed a ballot initiative to stop that but the legislature figured out a work-around and continue to raid the gas tax fueled fund for bullshit projects.
Californians also love their cars. A lot of them were pissed when the VLF (car tax) and fuel taxes went up drastically, in large part because they KNOW these funds will NOT be used to fund road repair but will instead be siphoned off to support Democrap bullshit.
Therefore people decided to go after a Democrap legislator who won his seat by a very narrow margin. They want to recall him, thereby ending the Democrap supermajority in the house. The guy they are going after is Josh Newman out of Fullerton.
So the Dems ran a bill thru that changed the rules for recall elections to make them MUCH HARDER and much slower to implement. Basically it would push the recall back to the regular election in 2018 rather than a special election.
In any event the Third District Court of Appeals in Sacramento agreed, at least tentatively, with the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association and others in their assertion that the manner in which this law was changed was unconstitutional and put a hold on the change. IF the people pushing the recall managed to turn in enough valid signatures the election could be certified and scheduled before the court rules.
