Trump may need the help of Kim Jong-un to get him out of shithole he now finds himself in
It’s certainly no secret that ever since he started campaigning for the presidency, Donald Trump and the media have been at war with each other. And from the moment he sent Hillary packing, the hostility of the media seems aimed at driving Trump out of office. When confronting him, reporters are just itching to get Trump to fall into a gotcha trap. And that’s exactly what happened at the Trump Tower in New York on Tuesday.
At the conclusion of a conference on the nation’s infrastructure, Trump stepped out for a press conference and asked for questions on infrastructure. Although there were a few questions on the infrastructure, for the most part Trump was badgered with questions about him blaming both sides for the Charlottesville riots. And sure enough, he walked right into the trap set for him by the gotcha reporters.
A pissed off president spouted out an unscripted tirade that may haunt him for the rest of his presidency. For the most part what Trump said was close to what I have been saying, but he really blew it when he said:
“You have some very bad people in that [neo-Nazi and white supremacy] group, but you also had people that were very fine people on both sides.”
Fine people on both sides? While there were some fine people among the counter demonstration side, how can the president say there were fine people in the rabble of Neo-Nazis, KKK, white supremacists and white nationalists? Those were a bunch of scumbags shouting out slogans of hate. A bare-chested skin head told reporters that “Donald Trump’s daughter [Ivanka] was stolen by a Jew [Jared Kushner].”
Once in this shithole, the reporters pounced on Trump with a vengeance, accusing him of assigning moral equivalency between the hate groups and their opposition. Trump’s 20-minute long unscripted got him deeper in the hole as he went along. It was obvious that he got pissed off and much of what he said was said in anger. At one point he pointed his finger at the reporters and said:
“I think there's blame on both sides and I have no doubt about it and you [reporters] don't have any doubt about it either and- and- and- and if you reported it accurately, you would say it.”
Spot on! But that wasn’t anywhere near enough to get him out of the catastrophic situation he got himself into with his ‘fine people’ remark.
I used a harsh term to describe our president – Der Dummkopf – a knucklehead. You could see a grimacing Gen. John Kelly, the President’s chief of staff, standing nearby, head bowed and arms folded.tightly. I suspect he folded his arms so as to refrain from punching his boss out.
All of this could have been prevented. Trump had to know in advance that the reporters would go after him for blaming both sides earlier. Trump should have started the press conference by telling the reporters, “I’m here because of a meeting on infrastructure. I’m only going to answer questions on the infrastructure and I will not … let me repeat that, I will not take questions on anything else.” And then he should have disciplined himself not to take any questions on Charlottesville, no matter how many were asked.
But Der Dummkopf couldn’t resist taking on the hated press. And so Trump stepped right into the trap laid for him by the gotcha reporters. This could haunt Trump for the remainder of his presidency.
Right now it looks as though only North Korea’s Kim Jong-un can get Trump out of this shithole. If the little fat guy with the weirdo hairdo does something with his missiles and nukes that actually endangers Guam, Trump could unleash our military might against North Korea. Once at war, the country would unite behind the president and all would be forgiven and forgotten.
But damn it, it has now been reported that little Kim has just backed off of his threats to attack Guam. Damn that little squirt!
