Woman shoots niece in leg while giving gun lesson, police say

HOUSTON - A woman shot her niece in the leg Thursday while teaching her how to use a gun, police said.
The shooting was reported about 9:30 p.m. at a home on Southminster Drive near Rampart Street.
Houston police said the aunt accidentally pulled the trigger during the lesson. The shot hit the 14-year-old's pinky finger and then her leg, police said.
Police said the girl was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The case will be presented to a grand jury to determine if charges should be filed, police said.
