INTERESTING TEST CASE OR JUST A WHOOPSIE ?

by Bob Walsh

Jose Armando Escobar-Lopez, of El Salvador, is an undocumented democrap. He was busted by the Daly City, CA. PD in May after a routine traffic stop. They discovered his illegal status. The local cops (low-level actual cops, not suits) ratted him out to La Migra and they hooked him up on May 11. He was the subject of a valid deportation order from Sept. 2017. He was also driving without a license. The deportation order showed up in the officer's data check at the time of initial contact. They took him to the station, called ICE and they came and took him.

This act seems of be a violation of California's 2018 Sanctuary State law. So, is this the beginning of a test case, the act of one officer trying to get a low-level criminal off the streets, or something else.

The Chief, Patrick Hensley, has been interacting with ICE to get Escobar released. So far, no joy, but he does have a stay on the deportation order. It might be amusing to see how this turns out.
